Now you can grow and make popcorn, fresh from your own garden. You can take the corn direct from harvest in the garden to the kitchen.
Harvesting Popping Corn
When the husks begins to dry its colour changes to a pale cream, at this stage they are close to maturity. Remove from the plant and place indoors to complete drying for a couple of days. Following this hang the cobs for approximately 14 days to allow the kernels to completely dry. Remove kernels from the cob, placing in a screw top jar and pop as required.
Making Perfect Popcorn

- Pour popcorn kernels into saucepan, enough to cover the bottom of the pot. Place lid on saucepan.
- When first kernel pops lift pan slightly from burner and shake lightly to prevent corn from burning, return to heat. Repeat this step 3-4 times during popping process.
- Add salt and butter to taste and serve.
