Plant Ginger in a sunny position in organic rich, free draining soil. Water weekly during summer to prevent drying out and provide plenty of nutrients.
Wait for the second growing season before harvesting in winter when the plant dies down.
Dig around the plant to cut off the old root leaving the young roots with shoots which should be left to re-sprout for the next season.
